Lords’ Chariots Turns Southern Mode ahead of Return Journey

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: “Today, on the day after ‘Hera Panchami’, the three chariots have been turned about and parked on the ‘Saradha bali’ in front of the ‘Gundicha Ghara’ facing south for the ‘Bahuda Jatra’ (return journey) of the deities.#RathaJatra2021 #BahudaJatra2021,” Shree Jagannatha Temple, Puri tweeted @JagannathaDhaam on Saturday evening.

Finally, within a mystic resonance of traditional instruments, the Nandighosa “Ratha” of Lord Jagannatha has been moved and placed at “Nakachana Dwar” in “Dakhina Moda”. With the completion of ‘Dakshina Moda’ of chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, the rituals for Bahuda Jatra started.

Police personnel have pulled the chariots during ‘Dakshina Moda’. As per the ritual, Debadalana, the chariot of Devi Subhadra, was first pulled at 12.20 pm and  turned towards Shree  Jagannath Temple in the south at 2.45 pm. After Debadalana, Lord Balabhadra’s chariot Taladhwaja pulled at 4.10 pm and ended at 5.25 pm and Shree Jagannath’s Nandighosh pulled at 5.40 pm and have turned towards the south direction at 6.55 pm . The chariots are now kept near Nakachana Dwara, the eastern gate of Shree Gundicha Temple.

The three chariots parked on the Saradhabali in front of Jay-Bijaya Dwara of Shree Gundicha Temple, facing north since Rath Jatra, are turned towards Jagannath Temple in the south. The rituals began after the servitors brought ‘Agnya Mala’ (garland of the consent of the Lords).
