BHUBANESWAR: Crorepati mines mafia and former Champua MLA in Keonjhar Sanatan Mahakud is spending sleepless nights following raids by Income Tax Department. Raids were conducted to detect alleged tax evasion by the former MLA, who has been playing a key role in Odisha’s mining zone of Keonjhar.
Raids going on in 10 places in Keonjhar, Joda, Bhubaneswar and the ancestral village of Mahakud under Champua.
In Bhubaneswar, a number of residential buildings, which are under construction in his name, were also searched.
Mahakud’s residential house in Shahidnagar area of Bhubaneswar, is also being searched by I-T officials.
Sources said. Raids will continue for more time. Mahakud’s close associates will also be grilled by IT officials. Mahakud has impressive influence in Odisha’s mining sector and had earned huge assets and properties through this business.
