Kendrapara Strongman Bhagbat Mohanty passes away

KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR: Kendrapara on Sunday morning lost one its worthy son as three times MLA and former Minister Bhagbat Prasad Mohanty passed away. He was 90.

Mohanty represented the Kendrapara Assembly seat for 3-times and became a State’s Higher Education Minister under late JB Patnaik’s Cabinet. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi and BJP National VP-Spokesperson Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda have condoled the death.

Mohanty was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly thrice from the Kendrapara constituency in 1971 as Praja Socialist Party (PSP) candidate and in 1985 and 1995 as a Congress nominee.

Kendrapara BJD MLA Sashi Bhushan Behera, Mahakalpada MLA Atanu Nayak, Aul MLA Pratap Keshari Deb, Rajnagar MLA Dhurba Sahoo, former MLAs Debendra Sharma, Anshuman Mohanty, Dolagobinda Nayak, Kishore Tarai, Sipra Mallick, Ganeswar Behera, Utkal Parida, Bijay Mohapatra, Alekh Jena, Radhakant Sethi and many others in Kendrapara condoled the death.
