KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR: The versatile Odia Actor Bijay Mohanty was on Monday evening passed away after a prolong illness. The veteran actor was 70. He was first admitted at Hyderabad for treatment and then shifted to Bhubaneswar with efforts of BJP MP , Aparajita Sarangi.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP National VP-Spokesperson, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda, BJP State president Samir Mohanty, BJD Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sasmit Patra, BJD Aul MLA and former Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi and others have condole the death of Mohanty.
“ବର୍ଷୀୟାନ ଅଭିନେତା ବିଜୟ ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ଓଡ଼ିଆ କଳା ଜଗତରେ ସେ ଛାଡିଯାଇଥିବା ଅଭିନୟର ଛାପ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅଗଣିତ କଳାପ୍ରେମୀଙ୍କ ହୃଦୟରେ ସର୍ବଦା ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ କରି ରଖିବ। ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରିବା ସହ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି,” tweeted CM Patnaik.
“ଖ୍ୟାତିସମ୍ପନ୍ନ ଅଭିନେତା ବିଜୟ ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ବିୟୋଗରେ ମୁଁ ଗଭୀର ଭାବରେ ମର୍ମାହତ । ତାଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସିନେ ଜଗତରେ ଏକ ଯୁଗର ଅନ୍ତ ଘଟିଲା । ପିଢି ପରେ ପିଢି ତାଙ୍କର ପ୍ରଶଂସକଙ୍କୁ ସେ କଳାର ଯାଦୁରେ ବାନ୍ଧି ରଖି ପାରିଥିଲେ । ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରୁଛି ଓ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାର ବର୍ଗକୁ ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି । ଏହି କଷ୍ଟକର ସମୟରେ ମହାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ପରିବାର ବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ଅସୀମ ଧୈର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଓ ସାହାସ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରନ୍ତ,” tweeted Union Minister Pradhan.
“Saddened to learn about the demise of veteran Ollywood actor Shri Bijay Mohanty. A distinguished personality and a Versatile actor with an illustrious cine career, his passing away is a great loss for the State and the Odisha Film Industry & Film Lovers in particular.My deep condolences to the bereaved family. May the noble soul Rest in Peace,” tweeted former Union Minister Dilip Ray.

“Lost another great son of Odisha Bijay Mohanty,a veteran film star who has immensely contributed to Odia culture when odia film was on a fleggling state..His pesonality was unquestionable.Agreat loss to mother Odisha.My deep condolence to his family members at Kendrapara and friends everywhere.Let his soul rest in peace,” tweeted former IAS officer Alekh Padhiary.
“An era came to an end. Sad demise of veteran cine star today @70 can be described as a surprise shock as he was effectively battling against death and distinctly developing signs of recovery. But the fate ruled otherwise. It’s a loss which is difficult to make up. I deeply mourn,” tweeted former Minister Ganeswar Behera.
