BHUBANESWAR: Capital PS Case No- 04 dtd.02.01.2024, U/S-392 IPC.Gist of the Case: On 02.01.2024 a report regarding forcible snatching of mobile phone followed by illegal transaction of huge amount of money to illegal beneficiary was received.
During investigation of the case it was ascertained that a number of people from Jharkhand and West Bengal used to come in group, they were divided into small group and spread into different parts of Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack etc. & other areas inside & outside Odisha.
They commit theft of Mobile phones from people travelling in public transport buses, busy market places, in festive occasions etc.
They work in organized manner along with a cook & operate in different places like bus stand, temple & hospital areas there & commit theft/ snatching of mobiles by creating artificial crowd.
There after by utilizing SIM card of stolen mobiles, they manage to transfer money from their available UPIs or accounts attached to the mobile by passing password.
From this interstate Gang members eight members have been apprehended so far & a juvenile is also been apprehended.
Investigation is going on for apprehension of more involved persons and recovery of mobile phones and money which has been illegally taken away.
Investigation is also on for nabbing other associates of them who are helping the gang in technical aspect.

Case Involved:
Till now, their involvement has been established in 8 cases of Capital PS and one case of CCEO PS, Bhubaneswar.
C/A is still under verification for involvement of other cases in & outside Odisha.
They are to be remanded & will be booked u/s- 110 CrPC being habitual offenders.
Article Seized: Cash of Rs. 1.3 lakhs, 22 mobile phones of different makes and models, 25 SIM cards, 20 memory Chips.
