Independent Director SK Garg Visits JSP Foundation sponsored ‘Project Vatsalya’ at Tamnar in Chhattisgarh

BHUBANESWAR:  Mr SK Garg, Independent Director and Chairman of Jindal Power Ltd’s CSR Board, a subsidiary of Mr Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel and Power, along with JSP’s President, Group Head CSR and Head Corporate Communication – Odisha, Mr  Prashant Kumar Hota,  paid a visit to Project Vatsalya being run by JSP’s CSR wing, JSP Foundation at Tamnar in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district.

Mr Garg interacted with health volunteers and Swasthya Sangini under Project Vatsalya  and lauded the activities being carried by the JSP Foundation. JSP’s President, Group Head CSR and Head Corporate Communication – Odisha, Mr  Prashant Kumar Hota briefed Mr Garg about various initiatives taken up by the JSP Foundation for the locals of Tamnar.

More than 50,000 girls have got health benefits so far across 44 peripheral villages through Project Vatsalya. This programme was first implemented in the Tamnar region of Chhattisgarh and Jereldaburu region of Jharkhand with aim to reduce infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal mortality rate (MMR) by means of educating the entire local population regarding the services related to Ante Natal Care (ANC) and Post Natal Care (PNC).

The project Vatsalya is now implemented in three States; Tamnar & Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, Jeraldaburu in Jharkhand and Tensa in Odisha covering a total 61 villages. The target beneficiaries of programme are pregnant women, children from 0 to 14 years, nursing mothers, eligible couples & adolescent girls.

It may be noted here that 1000 MW Thermal Power Plant by Jindal Power Ltd at Tamnar in Chhattisgarh, is India’s first private sector entity to have set-up a mega power project
