BHUBANESWAR: The ICICI Foundation has gifted seven dialysis machines to the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here, on Thursday to strengthen the hospital’s efforts to extend healthcare to the masses.
Senior officials representing ICICI Foundation handed over the equipment to the hospital in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of SOA, at a brief function.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Nayak praised ICICI Bank and ICICI Foundation for their efforts to improve healthcare stating they had also extended assistance to IMS and SUM Hospital when it was fighting the battle against Covid-19.
Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said around 1600 patients under treatment in the Nephrology department required dialysis support of whom more than 1000 patients were covered under the state government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). The new dialysis machines would go a long way to cater to the growing needs, he said.
Prof. (Dr.) Biswaranjan Mohanty, Head of the Department of Nephrology, said the hospital conducted dialysis for around 80 patients daily.
