BERHAMPUR:With smartphones and the internet becoming a part of everyday student life, learning to stay safe online has never been more important. To address this, Youth for Social Development (YSD), with the support ofGrasim Industries Limited (CSR initiative), organized a two-day training on Cyber Safety & Internet Security at Ganjam College, Ganjam, where 60 college students participated with great enthusiasm.

The sessions were designed to be interactive and youth-friendly. Students explored how their digital shadow is created, discussed both the benefits and risks of social media, and learned how to identify online scams. They also practiced building strong passwords, discovered the importance of two-factor authentication (2FA), and gained clarity on their online rights under India’s IT Act.

One of the highlights was the discussion on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the importance of balancing screen time for better wellbeing. “It’s eye-opening to see how much of our personal information is unknowingly shared online. Now I know how to protect myself,” said one student participant.

The programme concluded with an assessment, feedback session, and certificate distribution. For many students, this was more than just training—it was a step toward becoming confident and responsible digital citizens.

The two-day training programme was graced by SushmitaBehera (Public Relations & CSR Head, Grasim Industries Ltd.), Abhaya Das (IT Head, Grasim Industries Ltd.), Dr.SmaranikaHota (Principal, Ganjam College),BibhupasadSahu (Secretary, YSD), and Chandan Kumar Sahu (Programme Coordinator, YSD). The sessions were facilitated by Sudeep Kumar Chakrabarty (PC) and Mamali Panda (BC) from Youth for social Development
