BHUBANESWAR: In a significant development, Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi on Thursday staged a sit-in near the podium of the Odisha Assembly Speaker for not being allowed to raise questions in the House.
After a brief dharna below the podium in the house, Panigrahi took his seat after the Speaker said she would look into it in the future and requested Panigrahi to return to his seat.
The expelled BJD leader also appealed to all members not to participate in any business of the house till the problem is solved.
Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra came in support of Panigarhi and said that the latter should be given the opportunity to ask questions as he is also a member of the house.
Also, Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra said that Panigrahi is a member of the house and represents two lakh people. He urged the Speaker to rise above the party politics and give him a chance to raise questions.
