ECI announced Poll Schedules for Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections-2024, Voting in 7 Phases starting from April 19, some 96.88 Crore Registered Voters to exercise their Franchise

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:  The Election Commission of India on Saturday announced schedules for the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls 2024. The ECI announced a 7-phases poll schedule which will start from April 19.Counting will be on June 4.

The Lok Sabha polls will be conducted in 7 phases across the country. The polling will be conducted on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

Lok Sabha Polls will be held along with Assembly polls to Odisha Assembly and other States like Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar along with EC’s Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu briefed the media regarding the entire process at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

With the announcement of poll dates, election code of conduct has come into force from today. 96.88 Crore registered Voters to exercise their franchise in the polls which included 49.72 crore male voters and 47.15 crore female voters.  As many as 10.05 Lakhs polling stations will be opened for this purpose.

Some 48,044 transgender will exercise their franchise. 1.85 Crore voters having 80+ age group will vote in these polls. 2.38 Lakh voters having 100+ age group will also vote along with 88.35 Lakh PWDs voters will participate in this process, CEC Kumar said in his address.
