BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has spoken to Odia Woman Madhusmita Jena who ran In UK Marathon Wearing Sambalpuri Saree, through Video conference.
Chief Minister Patnaik congratulated Madhusmita Jena, a UK-based woman from Odisha, on successfully completing the Manchester Marathon wearing an Odia saree. She participated in the 42.5km long marathon wearing Sambalpuri handloom Saree.
Jena also appreciated Chief Minister Patnaik’s efforts and dedication for Odisha’s all-round development. “It’s real honour and privilege for me,” she said. She also lauded Odisha’s development under CM Patnaik’s leadership.
the 41-year-old UK-based Odia woman showcased Odisha’s heritage and drew applause from various quarters by doing so. She completed the marathon in 4 hours and 50 minutes.
Madhusmita works as a high school teacher in Manchester. She is also an active member of North West England Odia community. She had participated in several marathon across the world in the past.
