BSF Hosts Mini Marathon to Mark ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign in Koraput

KORAPUT/BHUBANESWAR: BSF (Border Security Force) Koraput organized a Mini Marathon (10 Km) in Koraput on Saturday. The run started at 07.00 AM from Government Women’s Higher Secondary School, Koraput and concluded at 08.30 AM. The mini marathon was organised under the campaign “Har Ghar Tiranga” as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate the 75 years of Independence of India which commemorates the years of progress and the glorious history of its people, culture, sacrifices and achievements.

The Marathon was flagged off by Shri T N S Reddy, Commandant, 65 Bn BSF and Shri Varun Guntapalli, IPS, SP Koraput. The event was attended by Shri Vikarn Kumar Solanki, Commandant, Sector BSF Koraput and Shri Ajay Kumar, Commandant, 151 Bn BSF. There was an overwhelming response, approx 500 Civilians and Students from Central University Koraput, Kendriya Vidyalaya Koraput, Government Women’s higher Secondary School, Sports Hostel Koraput, SAI (HAL) Sports Club Sunabeda, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Koraput, Odisha Adrash Vidyalaya Koraput and Vigyan International Degree College Koraput and surrounding areas from all walks of life along with BSF personnel participated in the event with high spirit, motivation and made the event memorable & successful.

Sh T N S Reddy, Commandant, 65 Bn BSF awarded the cash prizes to the winners. Rashmi Ranjan Nayak stood first, Gashi Ram Bora stood second and Drishant Panda stood third in 10 kms category and were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively. The participants expressed their immense happiness and joy for taking part in the event along with BSF and other Security Forces. 

During Interaction, Sh Reddy quoted “Border Security Force always put its best efforts in organizing such events to emphasize the benefits of running and a healthier society. Regular physical activities such as running significantly improves mental health, self-confidence, healthy ageing and quality of life. Maintaining a balanced life is becoming increasingly more important for personal health and well-being in a fast-paced modern world”. BSF Jawans are reaching out to far-flung villages and remote schools with National flags and making locals aware about the importance of National Flag.
