MALKANGIRI/BHUBANESWAR: On specific information, a Special Operation was carried out by 142 BnBSF on 13th May 2023 in general area of Sudhakonta- Amapadar, under GP Telarai, PS Limits MV-79 inMalkangiri.
During operation BSF party located an IED under a tree near culvert in the connecting road axis fromSudhakonta- Amapadar, in the approaching route to uphills of Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area. Earlier these area were highly Maoist infested and Maoist outfit and their sympathizers used to plant IEDs in various probable routes to harm the SFs/Police.
During the search, BSF team recovered an armed IED with following components:-Details of the recovery:-1) Steel Tiffin IED (Approx 03 Ltrs) armed with 01 Electric Detonator-012) Electric wire -20feet. The IED was demolished at that point by the Bomb Disposal Team ofBSF Sector Headquarters Malkangiri.
BSF is actively operating in Malkangiri district along with the Odisha Police to dominate the area extensively. Recovery of an armed IED during ongoing Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) would certainly demoralise the Maoist sympathizers active in the area. It would also motivate Security Forces to operate more actively in the region.
