JAJPUR/BHUBANESWAR:October 15th is Global Handwashing Day! This year, the Global Handwashing Day theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food – including food hygiene and nutrition. Handwashing is an important part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases, and helping children grow strong. Our tagline, Clean hands – a recipe for health, reminds us to make handwashing a part of every meal.
The global campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of handwashing with soap as a key factor in disease prevention. Respiratory and intestinal diseases can be reduced by 25-50%.
With this regards Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF) a CSR wing of IMFA observed the day on 15th , 16th & 17th October 2018 at Gurujung, Ostia and Kaliapani respectively. At Gurujung 100 nos. of people were gathered included 67 nos from SHGs & community, 33 nos. of children. At Ostia 71 nos. of people were gathered included 58 nos from SHGs & community, 13 nos. of children.
The Global Handwashing Day concluded on 17th October 2018 at Lord Shiva Temple, Dehury Sahi, Kaliapani. Total 139 nos. of people were gathered included 117 nos from SHGs & community, 22 nos. of children. On this occasion Lalatendu Mahapatra, Mines Manager (Mahagiri Mines Chromite) graced the occasion as chief guest. He enlighted on the observation of Handwashing Day and suggested handwashing is one of the best precautions one can take to help prevent the spread of many types of infection and illness, mainly resulting from consumption of contaminated food or water. He reiterated on the Global Handwashing Day to make a difference by encouraging and promoting effective handwashing in the community.
This event concluded in the presence of guests like N C Dhir, Gen. Secretary, SRCKMS, Bhagawati Mahanta- advisor SRCKMS, Kalpana Jena, Sarpanch- Kaliapani, Sangita Pradhan, Samiti Savya- Kaliapani, Motilal Mohanta, Nayab Sarpanch- Kaliapani, Ashish jena & Sanjay Kar the Youth Leaders, and the employees of IMFA mines like Abhay Pandey,Debasish Samal, A C Ojha & Deepak Maharana- Union Branch Committee Secretary and other members.
