Bike rally organised in commemoration of Odisha Zero Fatality Week

As part of the ongoing Odisha Zero Fatality Week, a bike rally was organised by Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) in collaboration with Ziqitza Health Care ltd. (ZHL) today, aimed to raise awareness about road safety and promote responsible biking habits. The officials of ZHL and DMET were also present at the event.

BHUBANESWAR: As part of the ongoing Odisha Zero Fatality Week, a bike rally was organised by Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) in collaboration with Ziqitza Health Care ltd. (ZHL) today, aimed to raise awareness about road safety and promote responsible biking habits. The officials of ZHL and DMET were also present at the event.

Prof. (DR.) U K Satpathy, MD, Additional DMET, Odisha officially flagged off the rally, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in ensuring road safety. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from bikers, community leaders, and road safety advocates.

Participants embarked on a journey that took them through iconic locations, including DMET Office-Natala, AG Square, Power House Chhack, Rupali Square, Ram Mandir, and Nalco Square. The strategic selection of these points underscored the need for heightened awareness and adherence to safety regulations in high-traffic zones.

In a concerted effort to prioritize road safety and reduce preventable accidents, Odisha Zero Fatality Week is observed with much enthusiasm, urging communities to come together for a common cause.

On this occasion, Prof. (DR.) U K Satpathy, MD, Additional DMET, Odisha said that, “Every year 40-45 percent of accident victims succumbed to injuries. Most affected age category is young mass, which is gross loss to us. Main objective of this bike rally is to create awareness about road safety and safe driving practice. People should understand their responsibility while they are on the road. This rally will encourage others to follow road safety protocols seriously.”

The initiative encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to actively take road safety as priority, highlight the importance of safe driving practices.

The week-long program will feature a range of activities to educate participants on defensive driving techniques, the dangers of distracted driving, and the importance of obeying traffic rules. The Week activities includes awarness initiative, blood donation camp, promotion of good samaritan principle, etc.
