Balangir’s Patnagarh DFO Pranab Mohanty arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 1.66 Lakh

BALANGIR/BHUBANESWAR: Pranab Kumar Mohanty working as Divisional Forest Officer of Patnagarh in Balangir was on Wednesday arrested by Vigilance Slueths  while accepting a PC  amounting to Rs 1.66 lakh.

The DFO Mohanty was accepting the bribe from a departmental forest range officer for clearing a bill for renovation of a Kendu leaves collection centre. The raid is still  underway at the DFO’s home and residence.

A team of officials from Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sonepur Vigilance units carried out the raid and caught Mohanty red-handed while accepting the gratification.

This apart, Deputy Range Officer Trilochana Dehury has also been arrested in connection with the case. Soon after the arrest, the Vigilance officials have currently launched search operations at his residences in Phulbani of Kandhamal district and Bhubaneswar.
