ASSOCHAM holds National Conclave on HR Leadership and Award-2023 in Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR:  India’s premier industry body, ASSOCHAM, organised a national conclave on HR Leadership and Award-2023 here on Wednesday.

The meeting was addressed by eminent personalities like Bijay Kumar Patnaik, former Chief Secretary,  Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, President Vedanta , Mahadev Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, Prasant Hota, President/ Group Head – CSR, Education & Sustainability, Jindal Steel & Power, Brig. Dr. Somnath Mishra, former VC, Sikkim Manipal University. Pradip Ranjan Choudhary, Advisor ASSOCHAM, Odisha State counsel, the gathering was extended warm welcome by Pradeep Kumar Nayak, Asst. Director, ASSOCHAM and Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Chairman, MGM Minerals Limited.

 In his address, Bijay Patnaik highlighted the rat race going on in chasing placement and package and  Mahadev Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur presented the need for support to the start-ups and the successful case studies developed by IIM Sambalpur for small entrepreneurs. In his address, he also underscored the speedy digitization that is going on. Prasant Hota, President, JSPL presented the thinking of Bhagabat Gita and its relevance in the management. Pradeep Ranjan Choudhary indicated about the upcoming 4th industrial revolution. Brig. Dr. Somnath Mishra narrated his experience in defence forces relating to human resource management and skill upgradation.

Dr. Tapan Chand in his address informed about the latest trends in next Generation HR like emergence of knowledge worker in industrial relations scenario, HR managers advocating business excellence model, shift of HR professionals from enabler to strategists, from strategists to Business manager and now visionary to make scenario building of HR 4.0.

 He informed that in the coming industry 4.0, jobs will be eliminated, and new jobs will be created. Next generation HR need to visualize and prepare industry ready employees who can cultivate the benefit of this 4th industrial revolution. He also pointed out that in past India has missed the benefit of second industrial revolution when mass production started with application of electricity as the country was not prepared.

In 3rd industrial revolution, India got some benefit as it has a vast reserve of English educated technical manpower. Fourth industrial revolution i.e., Industry 4.0 is happening in a time when India is going to be the youngest nation in the world with 64% of its population in working age group. Next Gen HR need to move to find out ways and means to make this workforce future job ready not only in industrial sector but in service and agricultural sector as well.

In the conclave, ASSOCHAM lifetime achievement award was conferred on Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand for his outstanding contribution to the industry and society. This was informed in a congratulating letter on behalf of ASSOCHAM by Senior Director, East & North- East of India, Perminder Jeet Kaur extending greetings to Dr. Chand. All the dignitaries handed over the award and applauded Dr. Chand for this contribution.
