YSD thanks Odisha COVID-19 Warriors

BERHAMPUR: As the Covid-19 pandemic reaches new corners of the country, the NGO community in India has been preparing itself to respond to the unexpected needs that the crisis is producing. Youth for Social Development a grass root development organization working in Ganjam district of Odisha with the most marginalized and vulnerable communities creating awareness among people, provide food basket to the most vulnerable people and request people to register the migrants expected to back home in the post lockdown period.

 YSD has thanked and praised all those who are fighting against the corona virus pandemic from the frontline and urged people to follow rules during the lockdown and adhere to social distancing norms. YSD spoke about doctors, Anganwadi Workers, ANMs, ASHAs, SHGs and sanitation workers who are helping others without thinking about their personal safety. We can never forget the sacrifice of your family members, wife, husbands, and children. Despite the dangers, it is only because of your cooperation and support that we are able to fight this war. We do not have words to thank them.

 At same time YSD has distributed PPE, masks, gloves and other safety materials to help the frontline workers fighting the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 500 frontline workers like Aangawadi Workers, Helpers, ASHAs and ANMs in 3 blocks (Khallikote, Kabisuryanagar, Purusottampur and Hinjili) in Ganjam district of Odisha have received the PPE kit.

Awareness was created among communities in these 5 blocks on preventive measures like maintain social distancing, use of mask, frequent hand washing using soap, stay home, register retuning migrants for institutional quarantine, and special care for elderly people and children to mitigate the disaster COVID-19.

 The staffs and the volunteers of YSD have been specially trained to keep them safe during the relief distribution and maintain all kinds of health and hygiene protocols. The organization has a long experience in humanitarian assistance and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and has been working since 2013 cyclone Phailin.
