Yagnya Begins for Shilanyas Ceremony of “Shreemandira Parikrama Project” in Puri

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: As per rituals planned, the Ankur Ropana niti was held on Sunday  that made way for a Yagnya, which is being conducted in front of the Northern gate near the ‘Aishanya Kona’ of the temple. The ‘Purna Ahuti’ of the Yagnya will be done on November 24 with joining of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Dr Krishan Kumar said. since Sunday, formal rituals had begun with ‘Guateka Niti’ of Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Dev . On Monday afternoon, Yagnya began , Dr Kumar added.

A model of the project will be displayed during these 3-days long event, Dr Kumar said adding land donors for the project will be felicitated by the SJTA.

The Muktimandap, the advisory body of hereditary Brahmins, is engaged in the conduct of the Yagna in the presence of 32 pundits and Puri Gajapati King Dibaysingha Deb initially. The havan premises, where the CM will arrive, include a vast space near the North Gate. With makeshift rooftops and rooms, the area has been beautifully decorated with flowers and lights with wall TV sets and chairs for guests to watch the function live.

It may be noted here that the Puri district administration had carried out extensive eviction drive in the vicinity of the 12th-century shrine to make way for the Heritage Corridor following the Odisha Cabinet’s resolution for the construction of the showpiece developmental project.
