World Universities Summit: JGU has given to its Students a truly Global and Diverse Experience, Says Naveen Jindal

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: While delivering his Chancellor’s Address at the World Universities Summit hosted OP Jindal Global Universality, which was inaugurated by the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu amid presence of  Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Naveen Jindal, Steel giant and Chairman of JSPL, on Wednesday said , “My father committed his life to the development of our nation, furthering the mission of higher education and driving social changes through philanthropy. O.P. Jindal Global University was born to carry forward his legacy,”.

Today as we are on a path of recovery from the current crisis this summit this week could not have come at a more apt time to discuss the future of universities, to see this congregation is extraordinary, he said.  JSPL Chairman and JGU Chancellor Naveen Jindal said that the University has given to its students a truly global and diverse experience while increasing the global footprint of Indian higher education.

“While human lives have been the biggest price paid during this pandemic, one cannot discount the socio-economic breakdown of nations worldwide which has been a collateral damage of this otherwise health crisis,” he added.

Addressing the participants, Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized on the Government’s commitment to transform India’s education sector bringing it at par with global standards, encouraging research and innovation and on developing well-rounded responsible citizens, who are also global citizens- Vishwa Manav.

Union Minister Pradhan said that the New National Education Policy -2020 has heralded a new imagination for the Indian higher education system. It outlines the vision of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to make an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Quality, equity, accessibility and affordability are the four pillars of the new education policy on which a new India will emerge, he added.

Professor (Dr.) D.P. Singh, Chairman, University Grants Commission, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar and other distinguished university leaders from India and overseas, faculty also attended the event.
