BHUBANESWAR: World Odisha Society hosted Hrushikesh Poetry Evening with much pomp, splendour and fanfare in Delhi. The Evening was dedicated to the celebration of poetic works of Nationally and Internationally fame poet Hrushikesh Mallick. A State and Central Sahitya Akademi Award winner, Shri Mallick has been earning wide acclamation and rich accolades for his illustrious and illuminating creative pursuits.
Around forty publications to his credit in Odia language, Hrushikesh Mallick’s selected poems have been translated into English, Hindi, Bengali and Kannada languages. Eminent Literateurs, Members of WOS, representatives of Odia Samajs, Odisha Lovers and prominent Non Resident Odias based in around Seventy Two Countries have taken part in the Mega Literary event.
While the physical ceremony was held at Press Club of India,hundreds of poetry lovers worldwide connected through digital networks. The venue Conference Room at PCI was aesthetically and elegantly decked up befitting to the Grand occasion. Unusual interest, unexpected enthusiasm and unprecedented excitements were witnessed among the participants of Literary Fiesta.
World Odisha Society was founded during the auspicious day of Makarsankranti in 2021 with Twenty countries as members. The prime motto of this apex institution of Global Odias is to unite around one and half crore Odias staying outside of Odisha under one platform and channelize their material and metaphysical resources towards all round development of Odisha. Now after four years of existence the society has substantially enhanced its presence in major parts of the Globe having 72 countries as its members.
Delivering Welcome Address Chairman of World Odisha Society Kishore Dwibedi sought everybody’s Co -operation to expand the base of WOS among the literateurs across the Globe. Addressing the gathering Chief Guest of the Evening veteran poet Ashok Vajpeyi said Hrushikesh Mallick is a poet having wide range of alert and attentiveness. His poetry displays rare vision, which holds the near and dear ones and the mythical characters in close proximity. Truly Shri Mallick is a poet of substance, of artistic competence and an inclusive perception, Shri Vajpeyi added.
Speaking during the meeting Guests of Honour Sumanyu Satpathy, Devendra Chaubey, Udaynath Sahoo, Amarendra Khatua and Mandira Ghosh complemented Hrushikesh Mallick for his excellent and exclusive literary accomplishments. Distinguished Poets Yashodhara Mishra, Liladhar Mandloi, Shivam Singh, Pran G Basak, Pijush Biswas and Sujata Chaudhary did a commendable job by reciting Shri Mallick’s poems in Odia, English, Hindi and Bengali languages with the wide appreciations and continuous applauses of audiences.
The star and sole attraction of the evening Hrushikesh Mallick drew comparison between today’s poet with a circus artist, who dares to perform his art standing on a moving ball. Contemporary poet faces challenge of exhibiting his expertise and excellence in poetry remaining on an unstable ground, he commented. Shri Mallick portrayed his neighbour as his poetic guru, who always struggles against establishment as well as his own fate from morning to evening for grabbing a bowl of rice and a moment of pleasure.
Ace anchor Pratima Sharma conducted the proceedings in a smooth and seamless manner. Nandan Dwibedi and Ankit Maurya ably handled the digital control room. The special attraction of the evening was the soul soothing musical presentation by Chartered Accountant Sudhir Dash and troupe.
Prominent personalities present include Secretary, Noida Jagannath Temple Manoranjan Mohanty, Advocate Biraja Mohapatra, Advocate Surendra Kumar Patri, Advocate Sasmita Tripathy, President, Odisha Fairprice Dealers Association, Nagendranath Jena, Gajendra Sahoo, Chakrapani Parida, Archana Parida, Suranjita Rana Dash, Alpana Patnaik, Dr Prakash Kumar, Sahashranshu Mohapatra, Soumyaranjan Sahoo and Debasmita Mohanty.
Entire arrangements of the celebration was executed successfully with the active co – operation of WOS’s office bearers like Vice President of Women’s wing Reeta Patra, General Secretaries Pushpanjali Barik, Kaveri Behera, President and General Secretary of New Delhi and NCR Branch Bimal Bhal and Jnana Prakash Jena respectively.
