BHUBANESWAR: Woman Inspector of Police Snigdharani Suna and driver of the SUV, which caused the road accident killing 3 persons and injuring 5 others in Sonepur district,Ajay Jethi have been arrested. The arrested duo was being brought to Sonepur from Balangir by police.
Earlier, 3 persons, including a woman, were killed and 5 others suffered grievous injuries after the Police Inspector’s SUV collided with an auto-rickshaw and a two-wheeler on NH-57 near Badabahali Chhak in Sonepur district. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh to victim’s family and free treatment for injured.
Snigdharani Suna was present inside the vehicle when the accident took place. She was on her way to Balangir after Ratha Jatra duty in Puri. She had fled the spot after the road accident.
The three deceased were identified as Guabati Jai (40), Satya Pradhan (45) and Prananath Biswal (45). The injured were later rushed to a hospital in the nearby for treatment.
