BHUBANESWAR: Depression over SW BoB and adjoining EIO Ocean moved WNWards with a speed of 18 kmph during past 6 hours andlay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 25th November 2024 over the same region near latitude 5.2°N and longitude 83.5°E, about 450 km south-southeastof Trincomalee, 740 km south-southeast of Nagappattinam, 860 km south-southeastof Puducherry and 940 km south-southeast of Chennai.
It is likely to move nearly northwestwards and intensify into a deep depressionduring next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move north-northwestwardstowards Sri Lanka – Tamil Nadu coasts during subsequent 2 days.
Earlier, Well marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East EquatorialIndian Ocean moved west-northwestwards, intensified into a depression and lay centred over central partsof South Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean near latitude 5.0°N and longitude 85.3°E, about 600 km southeast of Trincomalee, 880 kmsoutheast of Nagappattinam, 980 km southeast of Puducherry and 1050 km south-southeastof Chennai.
It islikely to move northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts during subsequent 2 days.
