BHUBANESWAR:The ‘Drug-Free Campus Campaign’ was launched today at the Delhi University campus under the patronage of the Honorable Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan and the Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

Education Minister Shri Pradhan said that this is not just a campaign, but a strong commitment to our youth, society and nation. Delhi University is not just an educational institution, but it is a powerful center for the creation of new ideas and values. This step taken by the University to address a serious challenge like drug abuse is highly commendable. Through this campaign, the University has taken a successful step towards addressing a very serious and youth-centric challenge. In such a context, this campaign of Delhi University will emerge as an important pillar of the nationwide movement against drug abuse.

Shri Pradhan said that addiction is not only harmful to health, but it is also a big threat to the future of the country and the path to building competent citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Developed India’ will be fulfilled only when our youth become healthy, conscious, self-reliant and aim for positive changes in the society. The path to ‘Developed India’ lies only through ‘Addiction-Free Youth Power’. Shri Pradhan congratulated Delhi University for this visionary and inspiring step and called upon them to actively participate in this campaign and turn it into a ‘People’s Movement’. He advised the students to play their leading role in building a drug-free, healthy and empowered India.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice President also launched a special e-pledge platform ( https://pledge.du.ac.in/home ) and mobile application under the ‘Drug-Free Campus Campaign’. He also urged the students of various universities in the country to actively participate in it and take the pledge for a drug-free campus. He advised the Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan to ensure that this ‘Drug-Free Campus Campaign’ becomes an integral part of all Central Higher Educational Institutions.
