PURI/BHUBANESWAR: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who arrived in Odisha on a three-day visit, on Wednesday visited Shree Lord Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s pilgrimage city of Puri and offered prayers.
Accompanied by Daitapati Servitors, CM Banerjee visited the 12th century old shrine and offered prayers.
She offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, goddess Bimala, Mahalaxmi and other deities in the shrine.
Banerjee will stay in Puri for the night. The Puri district administration has made security arrangements for the West Bengal Chief Minister, as per the protocol, Superintendent of Police K.V. Singh said.
Banerjee will also lay the foundation stone for construction of a Bhakta Niwas for West Bengal devotees in Puri. On March 23, before taking the return flight to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar, she is very likely to meet Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. However, Odisha CMO is yet to confirm it.
