NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minster Narendra Modi has deeply condoled the death of noted writer, social activist and former Editor of Samaj, Odia Daily, Manorama Mohapatra.
Mohapatra passed away on Saturday evening. She was 87. She was honoured with Sahitya Academy Award in 1984, Soviet Nehru Award in 1988, Critic Circle of India Award in 1990, Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar Samman in 1991 and Rupambara Award in 1994.
“Saddened to hear that eminent Odia author, Manorama Mohapatra ji has passed away. She leaves behind a treasure of literary and journalistic work, which contributed greatly in bringing various social issues to light. Condolences to her admirers and family. Om Shanti,” Vice President of India tweeted @VPSecretariat.
