BHUBANESWAR: The Election Commission of India has announced that the by-election to Padampur assembly constituency in Bargarh district of Odisha will be conducted on December 5. The results will be declared on December 8.
The by-poll has been necessitated following the demise of five-time MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha, who passed away on October 2 at 64.
The specific gazette notification regarding the by-poll will be issued on November 10. The last date for filing nominations by candidates is November 17. Similarly, November 18 and 21 has been set as the date for scrutiny of nominations and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures respectively.
