JAJPUR ROAD/DHARMASALA: Normal life in Odisha’s mining and industrial rich Jajpur district were on Monday badly hit with BJP supported shut down demanding for a CBI probe into the mysterious death of woman VLW Smitarani Biswal of Haridaspur Panchayat under Dharmasala Assembly segment held by BJD’s Pranab Balabantray in the district getting massive support.
Shops, business establishments, schools, colleges and other public institutions remained close with BJP supporters staged demonstration at various important junctions of the district.
BJP leaders participating at the shut down however alleged that probe was not going in right direction as cops were working under the instruction of the suspects. BJP leaders also demand action against RAMCO cement company officials , those were present at the time of the incident. BJP has been alleging that the deceased VLW had been gang raped and murdered.
Deceased VLW Biswal was found hanging at a private guest house owned by one Nandu Bhadra alias Rupesh, happens to be husband of sitting BJD Haridaspur Panchayat, Madhusmita Bhadra.
The key accused Nandu Bhadra has been arrested so while the deceased’s husband alleged that RAMCO Cement Company, some officials in Chief Minister’s Office, Local Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantray , besides Nandu Bhadra were behind the murder case. “Rupesh is right hand of MLA Balabantray and some RAMCO cement company officials also involved in it as they belongs to Tamil Nadu and getting powerful support from CMO,” added deceased’s husband.
On the other hand Sarapancha Madhusmita said “my husband is a good man and helps others during crisis. We had a very good rapport with the family of Smitarani. Even we used to visit places together,” said Madhusmita. She further claimed Smitarani was not on good terms with her in-laws.
Earlier on Sunday, a BJP delegation met DGP BK Sharma demanding justice for the family of Smitarani. Alleging that a conspiracy is behind the death of the woman VLW, the party leader Lekhasri Samantsinghar asked why other accused has not been questioned yet whereas only husband of the deceased and her relatives are being quizzed by the district police.
In reply, BJD leader Sulata Deo said politicians should refrain from issuing statements pertaining to the case as those could affect the investigation.
Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena said Rupesh has been arrested in connection with the case and prima facie shows his involvement in abetment of the VLW’s suicide. “Smitarani and Rupesh were in a relationship. However, some differences erupted between them a few days back,” the SP added.
On October 16, Smitarani and Rupesh engaged in a verbal duel. Later Rupesh instigated Smitarani to commit suicide following which she ended her life in the guesthouse owned by him, the SP had said.
