BHUBANESWAR: While alleging severe violation of protocol during the visit of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Bhubaneswar BJP MP and National Spokesperson, Aparajita Sarangi, on Monday drew attention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the mysterious absence of Odisha Minister of State for Home, TK Behera, Home Secretary Sanjeev Chopra and DGP SK Bansal during the reception at Biju Patnaik International Airport here.

“You are kindly aware that Home Miniser Amit Shah is on a visit to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. He reached Bhubaneswar last night. a huge number of people were there to welcome him. With a very heavy heart, I am to inform that niether the Minister of State, Home, Nor ACS/Principal Secretary of Home, nor DGP was present to pay respects to the Union Minister and receved him at the Airport,” BJP MP wrote to Chief Minister Patnaik.

“It is surprising that the State behaved in such a callous manner. This kind of behaviour reflects the culture of an institution. Is this right,” asked the BJP MP.  ‘I hope and expect that appropreate instrctions will be issued by your good office so that such actions are not repeated,’ she added.

Earlier, speaking to media, Sarangi had said, ‘Only Odisha Special Secretary Home was present to welcome Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport  late last night while Minister of State for Home, TK Behera, Home Secretary Sanieev Chopra and DGP SK Bansal were missing from scene,’ alleged she .”The Odisha Government did not follow protocols during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit,” the BJP MP alleged.

MP Sarangi’s hard hitting statement came following State Government’s failure to depute Ministers and senior officers during the arrival of Union Home Minister Shah at Airport to welcome him.

“ I am shocked and angry the way the State Government behaved during the visit of Shah as if it forgot minimum courtesy to welcome Country’s Home Minister,’ MP said.  ‘Even though Odisha , a non-NDA State, but Central Government always giving priority to this State and Home Minister Shah also paying a lot of attention to the State,” She said. The MP also said , Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been extending all out support to Odisha but ‘I feel hurt when Home Minister visiting State, no one from State administration was there to welcome,’

,’ Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah flanked by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and National Spokesperson, Dr Sambit Patra offered prayers at Lord Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
