BHUBANESWAR: On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Sri Samir Kumar Thakur, Asst. Executive Engineer, Bhawanipatna Municipality, Dist- Kalahandi today i.e. on 28.12.2022 at 4 places in Bhawanipatna i.e;
1) Triple storeyed building at Mahavirpada, Bhawanipatna.
2) Double storeyed building at Irrigation Colony, Bhawanipatna.
3) House of relative located at Marwaripada, Bhawanipatna.
4) Office chamber inside Bhawanipatna Municipality.
4 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 6 Inspectors and other staff are conducting the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
During searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores have been unearthed in the name of Sri Samir Kumar Thakur, Asst. Executive Engineer and his family members;
1) One triple storeyed building constructed over a plinth area of about
7033 Sqft. at Mahavirpada, Bhawanipatna worth approx Rs.1 Crore.
2) One double storeyed building constructed over a plinth area of about
2500 Sqft. at Irrigation Colony, Bhawanipatna worth approx Rs.60
Lakhs (Picture given below).
3) 3 plots in and around Bhawanipatna.
Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurement and
valuation of above plots.
4) Cash Rs.49,163/-.
5) Bank, Postal & Insurance deposits and Investment in Mutual Funds
worth over Rs.52.56 Lakhs.
6) 1 four wheeler (Hyundai i-20) worth over Rs.8.57 Lakhs.
7) Gold jewellery approx 250 Gms. and silver ornaments 930 Gms worth
over Rs.8.71 Lakhs.
8) Household articles worth over Rs.11.73 Lakhs.
Sri Samir Kumar Thakur, Asst. Executive Engineer, Bhawanipatna Municipality, Dist-Kalahandi is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase. Enquiry is in progress.
