BHUBANESWAR: “Smt Meena Patra, CDPO, Biswanathpur, Lanjigarh Block, Dist- Kalahandi who was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on 4.10.2021 while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 80000/- from a Complt. for clearing bills of two SHGs, has been arrested & will be forwarded to the Court,”Odisha Vigilance tweeted @OdishaVigilance.
In this connection Koraput Vigilance PS Case No 21/2021 has been registered U/S 7 PC Amd.Act 2018. Simultaneous searches have been launched on properties of Smt Patra at 3 places in Kalahandi district. Investigation in progress against Smt. Patra, Vigilance said.
CDPO Patra was arrested by Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from five women self-help groups in the Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district to clear a bill of Rs 11.59 lakh. A special vigilance team from Jeypore and Bhawanipatna led by DSP Satyaban Mahananda arrested the accused Child Development Project Officer this afternoon and seized Rs 80,000 from her.
Earlier, five women self-help groups in Lanjigarh block had raised a bill of Rs 11.59 lakh for preparation of Chhatua (cereal).
The CDPO had demanded a gratification of Rs 80,000 from the members of the women’s group in order to pass the bill. Following a complaint, the vigilance team set up a trap and confiscated Rs 80,000 from her office this afternoon.
