BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday, Ganeswar Pradhan, IIC Chandipur Police Station, Balasore, also incharge IIC marine PS, along with ASI Sri Bali Mohanty of Chandipur PS has been trapped by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 50,000/- as monthly Bati from a Licensed IMFL off shop owner, threatening not to allow him to run his business otherwise. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Sri Bali Mohanty, ASI and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Pradhan and Sri Mohanty respectively from DA angle.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.18/2023 U/s-7PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against both the accused persons Sri Pradhan, IIC and Sri Mohanty, ASI. Detailed report follows.
Meanwhile, Sri Chittaranjan Behera, Ex-IIC, Nihalprasad PS, Dhenkanal, at presentInspector, KLDI, who was nabbed in a case dtd 24.02.2021 for taking bribe in a dowry case, was convicted to 4 years imprisonment and fine, and sent to jail today. Investigation & Prosecution were completed in 2.5 years in the case.
Odisha Vigilance has prioritized prompt investigations and speedy trials. Investigation in all year old trap cases has been completed, and close monitoring of prosecution and trial are being carried out.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Sri Chittaranjan Behera, Ex-IIC, Nihalprasad Police Station, Dist-Dhenkanal following his conviction.
