KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR: The crorepati ASI of Rajkanika Police Station in Kendrapara district, Baishnab Behera was on Thursday trapped by Vigilance. ASI Behera has been under Vigilance scanner since long while he was caught.
ASI Behera caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5000.According to sources, Behera had demanded Rs 5000 from one Dibakar Sethi of Gokarneswar village to help the complainant and to eliminate the name of his (complainant) brother and sister-in-law from the Charge Sheet in Rajkanika PS Case No.123/20.
Following this, Behera approached the Vigilance department and filed an FIR.Based on the plaint, the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and nabbed Behera red-handed while accepting the gratification.A Case No (11/ 2020) has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway, sources added.
Sources said, ASI Behera earned huge money during his term at Rajkanika Police Station and was serving for a long-time. Sources also said that ASI enjoys such power even the Police Station IIC and other seniors fears to speak about his unholy nexus. Vigilance will share details of the raids and subsequent developments.
