BHUBANESWAR: Naba Kishore Pattnaik, Ex-Manager Input (Retired), office of MD, MARKFED, Odisha, Bhubaneswar has been convicted in a bribery case and sentence of 3 years of rigorous imprisonment. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Pattnaik following his conviction.
The Court of 3rd Addl. Special Judge, Vigilance, and Bhubaneswar, Sasmita Parhi, convicted Patnaik basing on a Odisha Vigilance charge sheeted in Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.64 dtd.09.12.2003 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification (bribe) Rs.10,000 from the complainant for not entangling him in the departmental enquiry initiated against the Godown Manager for receipt of 140 bags of adulterated IFCO Urea.
The Court convicted Pattnaik and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13(2) PC Act. Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the court ruled.
