PURI/BHUBANESWAR: Gone are the days, when Dr Krishan Kumar was serving as Chief Administrator and was successfully managing the Shree Lord Jagannatha Temple Administration.
With Dr Kumar out on Central posting and the State Government appointing Senior IAS officer Vir Vikram Yadav, as the new Chief Administrator, everyone was expecting that everything going on smoothly but developments in Puri on Sunday, raised a serious concern over the security lapse and a result of which hundreds of ‘chulhas’ (earthen ovens) inside the ‘Rosaghara’ (kitchen) of the Jagannath Temple were late on Saturday night vandalised by unidentified miscreants.
Puri Srimandir’s Rosa Ghara is the largest and the biggest kitchen in the world with over 452 Chulahs .The temple administration has begun an inquiry into the incident. District Collector Samarth Verma also visited the temple to take stock of the situation . Collector Verma said, “This is an unfortunate incident which has occurred late on Saturday night. Niti Administrator and Additional SP (Security-Temple) are conducting an inquiry. “We are putting in all efforts to ensure that the rituals are not affected and Mahaprasad preparation is normalised as early as possible,” he added.
According to sources, more than 300 earthen ovens were destroyed in the temple’s wrath. The temple’s kitchen has more than 452 earthen ovens. Only the north-facing oven, the Emmar oven, and the Odia oven are safe. The rest of the furnaces and challahs were broken by miscreants.
