NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was on Saturday welcomed the suggestions made by the Puri Seer Jagadguru Swami Nischalananda Saraswati on the ensuing Car Festival of Lord Jagannath in July this year pilgrimage city of Puri, some 60 km away from State Capital of Bhubaneswar.
“The suggestions made by the Puri Shankaracharya shall be accepted by all and the Seer’s advice on Rath Yatra will help the State Government to take a final call on it,” said the Union PNG-Steel Minister.
“The suggestions of Puri Seer have also gave solace to 4.5 crore Odias and with blessings of Lord Jagannath, Odisha will win its fight against COVID-19,” Union Minister Pradhan twitted.
Earlier, the Puri had suggested Shree Jagannath Temple Administration to hold Lord Jagannth’s famous Chandan Jatra and Akshya Tritiya festiva inside the Temple premises in view of the lockdown imposed in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Shankaracharya’s views on the change in the tradition were taken after Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Divyasingha Deb held a meeting at the Govardhan Peeth with Shankaracharya.
As advised by the Shankaracharya, it had been decided that commencement of chariot construction ritual for Ratha Jatra on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 26 will be held inside Shree Jagannath Temple premises.
