NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Union Minister of Commerce , Industry, Consumer Affairs , Food , Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal has held an interaction session with members of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce and Canada India Foundation in Toronto. Minister of International Trade, Export, Small Biz & Economic Development of Canada , Mary Ng was present on this occasion. India offers to the world a stable environment under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister Goyal said.
With India working on various fronts to expand its economy, Minister Goyal invited Canadian business and industry leaders to help and take India-Canada ties on a faster growth trajectory. Goyal addressed the CEOs Roundtable in Toronto and invited Captains of Industry to invest in India’s resilient growth story.
Goyal was accompanied by FICCI President and IMFA Group MD, Subhrakant Panda, Commerce Ministry Joint Secretary and Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce Chief Negotiator Dr Krishan Kumar and other senior officials of Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Both Indian Minister Goyal and his Canada counterpart, Mary Ng had hosted a roundtable with Canadian and Indian businesses to hear first-hand how both Countries can make it easier for these companies to work together and to help them succeed.
‘The success of the Canada- India relationship is rooted within the close collaboration and hard work of Indian and Canadian businesses,” the Canadian Minister Mary Ng said.
It may be noted here that India and Canada held the sixth Ministerial Dialogue on Trade & Investment (MDTI) in Ottawa on May 8, 2023, co-chaired by Minister Piyush Goyal, and the Hon’ble Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, Government of Canada. The Ministers emphasised the solid foundation of the trade and economic relationship between India and Canada and recognized the significant opportunity to deepen bilateral ties and economic partnership.
Both sides discussed the potential for strengthening the cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation in priority areas by building on the ongoing work in the Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee (JSTCC) and seeking enhanced collaboration in the areas of start-ups and innovation partnerships. The Ministers agreed that there is significant potential to strengthen such cooperation and to enhance collaboration between their research and business communities in support of a sustainable economic recovery and the prosperity and wellbeing of their citizens.
