SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR:We are determined to make Odisha a prosperous and developed state under the mantra of “Good Governance” of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan while participating in the 101st birth anniversary of this great man and the occasion of ‘Good Governance Day’ at Burla, Sambalpur today.
The Union Minister first joined a mass run from Sambalpur University to Atal Garden this morning in a joint effort of Atal Bihari Jayanti Samiti and the district administration. Later, he garlanded the statue of Vajpayee there. In his speech, he said that Atalji’s mantra of “Good Governance” is always inspiring us to make Odisha a prosperous and developed state. Today, the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is making his every timeless dream and promise a reality.
Shri Pradhan said that good governance is not only the responsibility of the government, but the cooperation of every section of the society is essential. On this auspicious occasion, a new culture or mass movement should be started to provide nutritious food to children in government schools and Anganwadi centers in Sambalpur district and to create awareness about their health. He called for making Sambalpur a beautiful city by keeping our roads, houses and yards clean.
The Union Minister in his speech described Burla as a major development hub of Odisha. The universities and educational institutions in Sambalpur are adding to its glory. He emphasized on transforming the ‘Atal Garden’ in Burla into a modern and attractive tourist destination by next year.
Apart from this, he also inaugurated a blood donation camp at the party office in Burla and encouraged the volunteers. On this occasion, Shri Pradhan was given a grand welcome by the local administration and the people. Odisha Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ravi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jai Narayan Mishra and senior officers of the district administration and the municipal corporation were present at the event.
