ANGUL/BHUBANEWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today visited the world famous Satkoshia Sanctuary in Angul district. He said that besides enjoying the blue waters of the Mahanadi and the picturesque view of Satkoshia rhinoceros, Satkoshia will create a new identity in the tourism map of Odisha.
Responding to the media, Shri Pradhan said that during the visit to Satkoshia Sanctuary, I got the opportunity to see a unique and natural beauty of nature from a close distance. Satkoshia is a unique biodiversity region not only in Odisha, but also in the whole of India. The dense forests, wildlife, mountains and the confluence of rivers here have a lot of potential to attract tourists.
Satkoshiya is an ideal area to take forward the vision of ‘Domestic Tourism’, which our eminent Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned. The Modi government has provided financial assistance for the development of this region and for making this iconic tourist center a world-class destination. Tourism plays a huge role in transforming the lives of people. Satkoshiya should be developed in such a way that new livelihood opportunities can be created for the local youth and forest dwellers along with the protection of nature.
In the coming days, all efforts will be made to give this area the status of a world-class ‘tourism industry’ with the joint cooperation of the Forest Department and the Tourism Department. This will not only develop tourism, but will also create massive employment in the local area and bring about a big change in the economic condition of the people. He said that our main goal is to maintain the natural protection of this huge seven-koshi mountain range, which touches the borders of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Boudh districts.
