BHUBANESWAR:With an aim to strengthen India’s linguistic heritage and establish classical languages as the focus of education and research, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today released 55 important books at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi. These books have been published in Odia, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Sign Language. All these books will be an invaluable asset for the coming generation in understanding the intellectual and cultural heritage of Odisha and India.
On this occasion, Shri Pradhan said that according to the visionary vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, all the languages of India are national languages. Language does not divide but creates unity among all. Under the ‘National Education Policy 2020’, efforts are being made to keep Indian languages at the centre of education and research. These books will prove to be a valuable milestone in strengthening the classical status of Odia language.
The books released include 10 valuable research books by the Centre for Classical Odia Language Studies (CESCO), which will further strengthen the antiquity and classical status of the Odia language. Shri Pradhan said, it is a proud moment for the world of Odia literature and culture. With the aim of strengthening the classical status of the Odia language and bringing its rich heritage to the world, the release of 10 ancient and research books by the Centre for Classical Odia Language Studies is welcome. Starting from Charyapada to Madalapanji, these books will create a new identity with the rich vocabulary of the Odia language. Especially the English and Hindi translations of ‘Madalapanji’ and the English translation of ‘Rudrasudhanidhi’ will help in bringing the history and philosophy of Odia to the non-Odia readers. These publications will be a valuable asset for the next generation of researchers and language lovers.
In particular, the sign language version of ‘Thirukkural’ has presented a picture of an inclusive and inclusive India. On this occasion, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the scholars of Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, CIIL, CICT and all the Centres of Excellence.
It is noteworthy that 10 research-based books of the Centre for the Study of Classical Odia Language (CESCO) – ‘Odia Folk Language and Literary Language; Forms and Relationships’ by Jyotiprabha Mohanty, ‘Odisha Sangathar Klassiya Parva’ by Himadri Tanya Mishra, Govinda Chandra Penthoi’s Old Odia Dictionary: Charyapada, Old Odia Dictionary: Rudrasudhanidhi and Old Odia Dictionary: Silalekha, Madalapanji (English translation) by J. K. Nayak and A. Mohapatra, Madalapanji (Hindi translation) by Surendra Panigrahi, Rudrasudhanidhi (English translation) by Gangadhar Panda and Pramodini Panda, Shilpa Dibhullar by Shri Devi Prasanna Nanda and Charyapada – A Discussion has been launched.
