Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates MP Hall and Vivekananda Park at PM SHRI JNV, Angul

ANGUL/BHUBANEWAR: Our resolve is to improve the quality of education at the government level in Angul district and connect every child with scientific and intellectual education. This was said by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan while inaugurating the newly constructed multipurpose hall and ‘Vivekananda Park’ at the PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya campus during his visit to Angul on Wednesday.

Shri Pradhan said in his speech that exactly two years ago on 24th December 2023, this multipurpose hall was designed, which has been completed today at a cost of about Rs. 7 crore and dedicated to the students. This state-of-the-art hall will be a major tool in developing the artistic talent and intellectual capacity of the students. Skill Lab and Atal Tinkering Lab have been set up in the school to prepare the children for the challenges of the 21st century. In the coming days, with the help of DMF and CSR funds, maximum number of Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in Angul district with the aim of instilling a scientific attitude among the children.

Highlighting the National Education Policy, the Union Minister said that teaching in mother tongue is the foundation of a developed India. While the education system formulated by Macaulay tried to destroy Indian culture, today’s National Education Policy is making children confident through mother tongue. Recalling the rich literary and cultural heritage of Talcher and Angul, he said that only when mother tongue is strengthened, we can understand all languages.

Shri Pradhan said that Angul does not lack resources, it only needs the right planning. The key to Angul’s development lies within our students. There is no bias in Navodaya Vidyalayas and the talented students studying here will lead India in the world arena in the coming days.

On this occasion, Shri Pradhan unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekananda, the inspiration behind the youth power, in the Vivekananda Park premises. Swamiji used to say, “Arise, awake and do not sit still until you reach your destination.” The Education Minister said that this statue will always motivate the students of the coming generation to serve the nation and acquire knowledge. Apart from this, Shri Pradhan visited the Shri Jagannath Temple in the Vidyalaya premises and planted trees as part of the ‘Ek Ped Mayya Ke Naam’ campaign.
