SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated a state-of-the-art ‘Indoor Stadium’ and ‘Employee Accommodation’ built at a cost of about Rs. 10.46 crore in the premises of ‘Government College of Physical Education’ (GCPE) at Kulundi, Sambalpur.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble Minister inaugurated the stadium by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon. After the inauguration, Shri Pradhan himself played badminton in the indoor hall and performed sports to encourage the students and sportspersons present. He also discussed various issues with the students and faculty of the college.
Minister Shri Pradhan said that according to the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi “Kheliv Bharat Ta’ Gurveeb Bharat”, not only reading is not enough, sports are also essential for physical and mental development. Sports have been included as a part of the curriculum in the new ‘National Education Policy’. This indoor stadium, dedicated today, will promote the talented sportspersons of the locality and the new staff accommodation will make teaching more efficient.
The event was attended by Odisha Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Ravi Narayan Naik and Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Suryavanshi Suraj. All the guests enjoyed an exhibition volleyball match organized in the college premises and congratulated the players.
