BHUBANESWAR:A new chapter in the connectivity and infrastructure development of Talcher region has been added today. Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the much-awaited Ghantpada Railway Over Bridge on Talcher-Angul Road through virtual mode. Built at a cost of about Rs. 43 crore, this state-of-the-art flyover will solve the long-standing traffic problem of the people of the region and accelerate the pace of development.
Shri Pradhan said that Talcher-Angul Road is the economic backbone of the locality. This road connects coal mines, industrial areas, educational institutions and medical centers. Earlier, people had to wait for more than 45 minutes due to the railway gate near Handidhuva. Due to the heavy traffic of goods trains, this gate was often closed, resulting in long traffic jams. This modern flyover, built at a cost of about Rs. 43 crore, has ended the long-standing problem and wait of the people of the region. Now, this overbridge has made travel easy and safe. More than 40 thousand people of 8 gram panchayats and municipal areas of Talcher sub-division will benefit from it. Residents of areas like Ghantpada, Handidhua, Talcher Town, Nalco, Kulad, Dera, Balaram Prasad and Jugnauthpur, especially workers, students and patients, will get uninterrupted transportation facilities. This overbridge will not only reduce the distance, but will also give a new impetus to the economic development of the area.
On this occasion, Union Minister Shri Pradhan said that “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘double engine’ government of development is working in Odisha. Talcher and Angul are the ‘growth engines’ of Odisha. Only with the development of this region will the development of Odisha and the country be possible.” He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi, Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Baishnab, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kisan Reddy and Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi for this project and sought everyone’s cooperation for the prosperity of the region. Local public representatives, eminent personalities and a large number of people were present at the event.
