NEW DELHI:The Honorable President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, today graced a special function at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre to mark the 25th anniversary of the Akshaya Patra Foundation and the glorious milestone of serving 500 crore meals.
Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, echoing the words of the Hon’ble President, said that it is our collective national responsibility to ensure a bright future for children. Nutritious food is the foundation of India’s human capital. This campaign by Akshaya Patra is based on the ‘Maha Prasad’ tradition of Lord Jagannath and the ‘Seva’ spirit of Indian civilization. It is a unique example of transforming faith and devotion into a well-organized public service. Under the philosophy of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and the leadership of Shri Madhu Pandit Das and Shri Chanchalapati Das, this institution has become a model for the world today.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the successful integration of the ‘National Education Policy 2020’ and the ‘PM Poshan’ scheme is helping to eradicate hunger in the classroom, improve the status of children in school and achieve all-round development. Shri Pradhan said that by providing nutritious food to every child, we are building a strong India, which will help in achieving the vision of Developed India-2047, Shri Pradhan said.
