NAGPUR: We are moving forward in moving away from the ‘Macaulay’ mentality and taking our culture and self-respect forward, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today while visiting various social, spiritual and educational institutions and participating in other programs during his visit to Nagpur.
During this visit, Shri Pradhan attended the 27th anniversary of Bhonsla Military School and reiterated the resolve of human service and nation building. He said that the education policy prepared by the British and T.B. Macaulay in India to keep the country under slavery for a long time was only a process to degrade India. However, as an alternative to this education policy, after a long 34 years, a new National Education Policy has been implemented in 2020 under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The new education policy aims to change Macaulay’s slave mentality and develop India’s independent mentality. He said that it will awaken national loyalty among the students.
Similarly, Shri Pradhan paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at the holy Diksha Jheed in Nagpur. On this occasion, he said that Babasaheb’s thoughts, struggle and unique contribution to the country are always inspiring. As a symbol of social harmony and justice, the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has developed the places associated with Babasaheb as ‘Panchatirtha’. Similarly, the Union Minister visited the state-of-the-art ‘National Cancer Institute’ (NCI) established by Dr. Abaji Thatte Service and Research Institute and highly appreciated its functioning.
