NEW DELHI: A fruitful meeting was held in New Delhi on Thursday between Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of education between India and Singapore.
Shri Pradhan said that education is an important pillar of bilateral cooperation between India and Singapore. The visit of the Singaporean Prime Minister to India is special this year as the two countries complete 60 years of diplomatic relations. The meeting discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in the areas of school education, higher education, vocational education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Both the Ministers also emphasized on capacity building of teachers, enhancing research skills and capabilities, and strengthening the skills ecosystem. They also agreed to work together to facilitate more student exchanges between higher education institutions of our two countries with a view to providing students with a global perspective and a rich environment. Shri Pradhan appreciated the Singapore PM’s continuous efforts to take India-Singapore cooperation to the next level in the areas of education, skill development, start-ups and cutting-edge research.
