SAMBALPUR: For decades, VISUT has been promoting technical education in the state and the country. Children from poor and ordinary homes studying in VISUT have become a symbol of the scientific and engineering power of our country, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while joining the 16th convocation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VISUT), Burla on Saturday along with the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati.
Shri Pradhan congratulated the students and researchers who have received degrees, titles and medals. He said, VISUIT has the potential to earn more fame in the world in the coming days by providing world-class quality education to students and researchers. The 21st century is the century of knowledge. Technology and skill development is developing at a very fast pace. At this time, the desire to become an employer should not be sought among our students but should be developed. After independence, when a new era of irrigation and agricultural development started in Odisha, this educational institution was in need of change. Today, when the era of New Age economy has started in Odisha, VISUIT will lead it. Shri Pradhan called upon everyone to take responsibility for making VISUIT a future-oriented technical university.
He further said, “The National Education Policy has emphasized on 21st century knowledge, especially technology. Our focus in the education policy is on the integration of technology and education. In this context, we have the responsibility to mature the student community in the new technologies being developed in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, blockchain, data analytics, quantum computing and related fields, and for this, the participation of renowned institutions like Visut is absolutely essential.”
The M.Tech “Prayogshala Directorika” prepared in Odia and Sambalpuri languages by the educational institution is a commendable step. He thanked Shri Pradhan Visut for giving priority to mother tongue as per the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary National Education Policy. He said that only if we all give importance to mother tongue in the initial days of education, the inherent talent of the students will be developed.
On this occasion, the foundation stone for the construction of ‘Open Air Classroom’ was laid by the Hon’ble Governor and Shri Pradhan. Earlier, Shri Pradhan paid homage to the statue of the great freedom fighter and son of Odisha, Veer Surendra Sai, at the Visut, Burla Campus premises.
