BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL:Education is the path to the liberation of society. Freedom fighters like Purvathi Mohan Pradhan believed that education is not just about reading, but also a means of moving from darkness to light. With this idea, he planted a seed like an educational institution in Kaniha, which has now taken the form of a banyan tree named after PM Shri Purvathi Mohan Government Higher Secondary School, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

Shri Pradhan said this while joining the 75th anniversary and ‘Platinum Jubilee’ celebrations of this higher secondary school located in Kaniha, Angul district, along with the Honorable Governor of Odisha, Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati. He said, today is not only the 75th anniversary of this institution, but also the birth anniversary of the great activist of this land, the source of inspiration for all of us and the founder of the Prajamandal movement, Puruth Mohan Pradhan. The children of our region who have studied in the educational institutions built by him have become doctors and have achieved fame in various fields, which is a great achievement.

In his speech, Shri Pradhan highlighted the upcoming two important milestones. He said that in 2036, Odisha will complete 100 years of the formation of a separate province on the basis of the Odisha language and in 2047, the country will complete a century of independence. At that time, the responsibility of this educational institution will be even greater. Our youth should not just chase jobs but also resolve to become ‘wealth creators’ or entrepreneurs. He called upon everyone to be inspired by the ideals and inspiration of the holy Mohan Pradhan and develop education in this region in a comprehensive manner.

The annual souvenir of the school and a book based on the biography of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were released on the occasion, which was appreciated by the Union Education Minister. The Union Minister said that reading this book will instill patriotism and intellectual development among the children. He also advised the students to visit the ‘Pavitra Mohan Pradhan Smriti Peeth’ dedicated to the people of Purva Nagar by the Hon’ble Governor.
