NEW DELHI:The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the proposal to open 57 new Central Schools in the civilian sector of the country, including Odisha. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has thanked Prime Minister Modi for approving the proposal to open new Central Schools in 6 places in Odisha.
He said that these new schools will be a big step in meeting the educational needs of the students in the areas where they are to be established. The total cost of setting up these 57 new central schools is estimated at Rs. 5862.55 crore. The capital cost of setting up the central schools is Rs. 2585.52 crore, while the cost of running the schools will be Rs. 3277.03 crore. As per the recommendations of the National Education Policy, these new schools have been sanctioned with the aim of providing good quality education to the entire country including Odisha. Shri Pradhan expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking this decision towards the development of education and building a bright future for the students.
As part of the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, these 57 Kendriya Vidyalayas have been approved for the first time with ‘Baal Batika’. These Bal Batikas will provide 3 years of pre-primary or early education. After the approval to open 85 Kendriya Vidyalayas has been received earlier, this proposal will further help in providing quality education across the country and meeting the demand for Kendriya Vidyalayas.
