BHUBANESWAR: Under fire for Bharatpur Police Station case, for which Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi forced to order Judicial Probe along with Crime Branch investigation, backed by allegations of wrong doings of Police officials posted in mining and industrial zones of Odisha, the State DGP YB Khurania has issued a directive asking them to follow it or face consequences.
As certain police officials are involved in the activities like checking transport vehicles in mining and industrial areas, the officers were asked to stop such activities and focus on policing. The concerned department officers will deal with such activities.
The State Police Department has asked all of its field level officers not to be involved in activities like transportation and unauthorized operations in mining and industrial areas.
Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar has written a letter to all Superintendents of Police (SPs), IGs, DIGs, and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner in this regard.
The State Police Headquarters have noticed that certain field officers are involved in activities not related to policing duties, specifically in transportation and other unauthorized operations in mining and industrial zones, he said.
“The Director General of Police (DGP) has expressed grave concern over this issue and has emphasized that such actions fall outside the scope of police responsibilities,” read the letter.Any continued involvement or favoritism in these matters will be dealt with seriously, warned the ADG of Police. All the field level officers have been instructed to take cognizance of the directive and comply with it in strict accordance.
